Due to the increasing number and difficulty of surgical operations at our institution, we came to a total reconstruction of the theatre room and also modernization of it ´s equipment . In September 2013 the operating theatre was extended with the inhalation device - VETNAR 1600s. Part of this device is to monitor the vital signs the pulse, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation and CO2 levels. The anaesthesia equipment is suitable for most demanding operations and prolonged procedures. With a relatively weak body burden of inhaled anaesthetics this device is suitable and necessary for the anaesthesia of risky patients (elderly and weak dogs). VETNAR 1600 is intended for use in inhalation of anaesthesia animals weighing from 0 to 100 kg. This device is manufactured by Grimed Ltd. based in the Czech Republic, which has been in our market for long time and also foreign markets.

Another new device is the DeVilbiss oxygen concentrator 525. This device generates O2, which is the carrier of gas inhalation anaesthetics during general anaesthesia. The Oxygen generator can also be used separately for oxygen therapy of critical patients suffering from heart, lung or other respiratory ailments. With Oxygen from the device weak puppies can be treated after long labour or caesarean operation in the form of connection to the existing incubator. This device is manufactured by DeVilbiss Healthcare LLC, based in the USA.

In veterinary medicine, as in human medicine, demands are increasing on the quality of general anaesthesia. Using a high-quality anaesthesia machine reduces the load on the body during anaesthesia and allows easy control of the depth and duration of anaesthesia, which contribute to improving the result of surgery.
